I have this image in my head. There's me, Mama Mel, and in my favourite purple sling is my newborn little freshie, snuggled up against my chest. I can feel the softness of bubby's hair under my chin and when I inhale I am lost in the divine freshness of newborn baby aroma. We are in our own private world and it's wonderful. And then I come back to reality which usually involves tasks such as spreading vegetate on sandwiches and trying to find at least one pair or socks for the kids that actually match. This has become such a rare event these days that when it actually happens, a little celebration takes place. No shit. The kids actually happy dance while chanting, 'We found a matching pair, yayyyyy!!' And for a moment, I feel like a competent mother. Oh, what a feeling!
I could spend less time dreaming and more time sorting socks, but then, life would be of dull and meaningless. I'd be organised but bored witless and above all, there would be no art! Yipes!!
This week my little mama-bubba fantasy resulted in some artwork that warms my heart. Here are some progress pics. yes, I took some! :D I know, I spin myself out with my organisation skills too... :p
There are some finishing touches that need to be made. The hand needs to be fixed up. It's a little too primate-ish at the moment and now the paint is dry, I can correct the skin tones. Otherwise, i'm pretty happy with this blissed-out sling mama. She's not meant to be me, by the way. My hair is nowhere near that blue. :p
Oh yeah, and the pics are reversed coz the first one was taken in Photo Booth on my beloved Mac so it's a mirror image.
